Lawmakers Passed a $53 Billion Budget

Louisiana lawmakers passed a $53 billion budget on the last day of the legislative session, sending it to Gov. Jeff Landry for final approval. Acadiana is set to receive a portion of the budget for crucial infrastructure projects, with State Rep. Troy Hebert highlighting the importance of these investments. The budget also allocates $43 million to support families with private school tuition and raise teacher pay. State Rep. Lawmakers noted the session's smooth proceedings as the new fiscal year begins on July 1.
